CONTRAST AND GRAIN
CONTRAST AND GRAIN is a photobook which incorporates typewriter-made materials and is completely handmade.
This zine focuses on juxtapositions and micro observations, the lines between things and the poetry of details. Faded yellow lines on the street, rusted metal siding on a shed, the linear illusion of wood fencing, paint drop stains on a window, the meeting place of the sea and the shore, the granular veins of broken concrete.
Like all of my zines, this one involved a lot of walking. But each photograph in this zine comes from the experience of stopping, slowing down, being awestruck, and noticing the tiniest little thing.
Much like my TEXTURES AND LIGHT photobook, all of these photographs were taken somewhere in North Carolina. Most are from Durham or Wilmington.
